Poc Fada Presentation 2019-02-15 14:46:00

Sincere thanks to everyone who took part or helped and contributed in any way at the annual Poc Fada held by Inniscarra GAA/Inniscarra Camogie Clubs on St. Stephen’s Day, 26th December, 2018.    It was once again a great success, in ideal weather conditions.   A record number of over 80 teams took part.  Whilst a bit of organizing goes into its staging, it has grown in status now on a yearly basis.    There was a large attendance in the Clubhouse - Aras Tadg O’Muri for presentation of prizes, where light refreshments were also served by the hard-working ladies in the kitchen!

Winning Team:         Shane Linehan (Capt.), Senan Brislane, Jack O’Sullivan.

Second:                       Jenny Burke, Bryan Linehan, Sean Twomey.

Third:                         Tom O’Sullivan, Paul Farmer, Tomas O’Sullivan.

On Thursday night the 7th February, 2019, a presentation of the proceeds were made at the Wayside Inn.

The recipients were Marymount Hospice and The Jack O’Driscoll Fund.

Sean O’Mahony, on behalf of the Poc Fada Committee, thanked everyone who took part and once again outlined its success – 23 years on!     He said they were delighted to donate the proceeds to Marymount Hospice as everyone in some way or another have been touched by the wonderful work and services provided by Marymount.

Anne Ellard accepted the cheque on behalf of Marymount.    Anne thanked the Poc Fada Committee for their continued support, and it was a pleasure to be associated with the Poc Fada, and the support it has given Marymount over the years, as all donations, no matter how big or small, are greatly appreciated, for the successful running of the Hospice.

Dan Dilworth accepted the cheque on behalf of The Jack O’Driscoll Fund.   Jack suffered life-changing injuries in a freak accident during Storm Emma on the 1st March, 2018.  Whilst out with friends in the snow, he jumped into a pile of snow falling on his back and suffering a severe injury to his vertebrae in his neck, which has now left him paralysed.  He has spent some time in the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoghaire.     Jack is determined that his injury will not hold him back.  His motto is onwards and upwards.    He played Gaelic football/hurling with Mayfield GAA and also soccer with St. Marys.  Inniscarra GAA/Camogie Clubs wish Jack well on his road to recovery.

Mary Noonan presented the Seamus Noonan Memorial Cup” to Shane Linehan on behalf of the winning team.

The Poc Fada Committee would also like to thank The Wayside Inn for their hospitality on the night.
