Match Report - U14 P1 Hurling Semi Final v Midleton 2021-09-06 16:47:00

Inniscarra had a comprehensive victory over Midleton in the semi-final of the Rebel Og Coiste FE-14 Group 1 Hurling League at Ballyanly last Monday evening. They now play Sarsfields in the final. From the throw-in Inniscarra showed their intent with Cathal Lyons having the first shot on target but it was saved. Jack O'Mahony then got the first point after a good clearance by Conor Gould before Kieran Keohane goaled after good build up play by Darragh O'Donoghue and Alan Heelan. A foul on Darragh O'Donoghue led to a pointed free by Senan Brislane and then Sean O'Sullivan fed Jack Shine for a point. A good clearance by Conor Leisk was picked up by Alan Heelan and he scored a brilliant point followed by a goal by Kieran Keohane after a precise delivery by Jack O'Mahony. A promising attack by Darragh O'Shea led to a 65 from which Jack Shine set up Darragh O'Shea for a point followed by a pointed free from Senan Brislane after a foul on Cathal Lyons. Midleton scored a fortuitous goal just before the water break leaving the score Inniscarra 2 - 6, Midleton 1 - 0.

Excellent work by Sean Og Holland and Colman Aherne set up Jack Shine for a well taken goal and again good work by Sean Og Holland set up Jack Shine for a point.. Midleton then got a penalty which resulted in a point before Kieran Keohane responded with another point and good work by Alan Heelan set up Sean O'Sullivan for a point. 


HALF TIME INNISCARRA 3 - 9, MIDLETON 1 - 2.


A feature of the first half was the outstanding display by each of the backs with the full back line of Conor Leisk ,David Enright and Colman Aherne particularly to the fore. This continued through the second half with Darragh O'Shea and Jack O'Mahony making some great catches and clearing the ball upfield.

The second half wasnt as frantic as the first but Inniscarra were well in control. Great defending by David Enright got the ball to Conor Gould and his clearance reached Cathal Lyons whose delivery into the square was finished to the net by Kieran Keohane.A foul on Shane Maher led to another Senan Brislane pointed free before David Enright powered upfield and took a pass from Sean O'Sullivan and pointed. Second water break Inniscarra 4 - 11, Midleton 1 - 6.

Good work by Colman Aherne and Cathal Lyons led to a Jack O'Mahony point . A clever puck out by reliable goalkeeper Conor Costelloe was fielded by Sean Og Holland and his clearance reached Sean O'Sullivan resulting in a well taken point. A good catch and clearance by Darragh O'Shea reached Senan Brislane who scored a point and good work by Shane Maher and Conor Gould led to a goal by Sean O'Sullivan. A foul on Daniel Murray led to a pointed free by Senan Brislane. Good defending by Nicholas Glazier and a superb catch by Joshua O'Sullivan meant all the subs contributed to an outstandin performance Final score INNISCARRA 5 - 15, MIDLETON 2 - 8.
