FE-12 HURLING DIVISION 1 SHIELD FINAL 2020-09-03 10:29:00

At  Ballyanly on Sunday afternoon Inniscarra Fe-12 hurlers had a good win over Clonakilty in the Division 1 Shield Final.  Inniscarra were the more skillful team and had some top class displays particularly James O'Mahony and Donagh Holland who dominated midfield and Diarmuid Murphy who was unerring from placed balls, and upfront James O'Sullivan and Paddy O'Mahony got the vital goals.  Inniscarra started the game well with Dylan Donovan  making a good block but when  Clonakilty got the ball upfield they succeeded in scoring a goal. Inniscarra responded immediately but Paddy O'Mahonys shot was blocked and was picked up by Gearoid Coughlan who found James O'Sullivan and he scored a superb goal and he followed almost immediately with another goal after a good delivery by Rory Linehan. A good catch by Donagh Holland resulted in the ball reaching Emmett Fairtclough who was fouled and Diarmuid Murphy pointed the free. Clonakilty responded with a point but excellent defending by Rory O'Donoghue and Oscar Naughton got the ball upfield to Dylan Donovan who was fouled and Diarmuid Murphy pointed the free. A great block by Rory O'Donoghue saved a certain goal before good defending by David Moynihan and Sam O'Leary saw Inniscarra lead at the water break by 2 - 2 to 1 - 1.  A great catch by James O'Mahony got the ball into Rory Linehan and he passed it to Donagh Holland who picked out Paddy O'Mahony and he scored a super goal. Clonakilty responded with a goal from a free but good defending by Philip Cantillon Murphy and David Moynihan got the ball to Sam O'Leary and he found James O'Mahony  who scored a lovely point..Paddy O'Mahony then scored another point after good work by Emmett Fairtclough and Gearoid Coughlan. Clonakilty finished the half with a point and a goal to leave the half time score  INNISCARRA  3  -  4,  CLONAKILTY  3  -  2   Inniscarra started the second half well with good work by Ronan O'Mahony resulting in a Diarmuid Murphy point. A foul on David Moynihan resulted in another Diarmuid Murphy pointed free followed by another pointed free for Diarmuid after a foul on James O'Sullivan. Good work by Oscar Naughton and Gearoid Coughlan resulted in a 65 which Diarmuid Murphy pointed.  Good stickwork by Tiernan Twomey  got the ball to Matthew Cantillon Murphy resulting in a free which Diarmuid pointed. Clonakilty had a few good attacking moves but  Rory O'Mahony in goal made three good saves and Philip Cantillon Murphy was solid at full back and repulsed some dangerous attacks. A good clearance by Sam O'Leary  resulted in James O'Mahony getting a very good point and then Paddy O'Mahony scored Inniscarras fourth goal after good work by Oscar Naughton and Philip Cantillon Murphy.
