LOSS FOR U-14 FOOTBALLERS

At Ballyanly on Friday evening Valley Rovers were too strong for Inniscarra in the U-14 C3 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP on a scoreline of Valley Rovers 5 - 12 to Inniscarra 5 - 3. Inniscarra started brightly with Brian Dinan and Sean Aherne prominent at midfield and captain Ethan Pigott leading the half back line.  A few early attacks failed to yield a score but Valleys first few attacks yielded a goal and three points before John Gould pointed a free after good work by Cian Murphy.  Sean McLoughlin hit the post before a good run from John Lehane found Eoin Barrett who scored a precious goal.  Tom O'Sullivan cleared a great ball upfield to the powerful John O'Connell but his effort on goal was just wide. Just before half time Inniscarra got a boost with another goal from Eoin Barrett after good work by Sean McLoughlin. Half time score Valley Rovers 3 - 8, Inniscarra 2 - 1.

Valleys started strongly in the second half but brilliant defending by James Doyle and Joseph Enright kept Inniscarra in contention. Evin Cunningham was powerful at full back and broke up many attacks and the impressive John Buckley was rock solid at corner back. Mark Linehan in goal made many good saves and proved a strong barrier to Valley Rovers attempts on goal. Eoin Barrett scored another goal and a point in the second half and John Gould also scored a goal and a point. Inniscarra never gave up fighting and were rewarded in the end when Josh Roberts was fouled and goaled the resultant penalty kick. Final score Valley Rovers 5 - 12, Inniscarra 5 - 3.
