U15 P2A HC Final 2018-05-04 21:12:00

Inniscarra Fe-15 Hurlers put in a heroic performance at Delanys Pitch, Dublin Hill on Wednesday evening but just lost out in the P2A County Hurling Final to Eire Og. Playing into the strong wind in the first half, Inniscarra trailed at half time by 4 - 7 to 0 - 5 and suffered the loss of Conrad Desmond very early on due to injury. Conrad was one of the star players in the semi-final scoring seven points against Cobh and his departure was a huge blow. With the wind in the second half, Inniscarra scored 2 - 8 to come within three points of Eire Og and had several attempts to draw level but it was Eire Og that got the all important goal that decided the match.

Inniscarra started the match brightly and had two goal attempts by Joe Enright saved before a well taken line ball by Peter Dunne was sent over the bar by Joe Enright. Eire Og then scored a goal and two points before good defending by David Keane and John Cussen got the ball to Se O'Donoghue who scored a lovely point. Eire Og then scored two more goals and two points before good work by Aaron O'Donovan passed to Joe Enright for a point. A goal and point for Eire Og kept them well in the lead but Sean McLoughlin, who had a great game, caught a ball and burst out of defense and his pass to Scott McElroy was progressed to Brian Lowney resulting in a magnificient point. Good work at midfield by Mark Linehan led to him being fouled and Joe Enright converted the free before half time.

Even though they conceded the first point of the second half from then on Inniscarra put in a huge performance. A great ball out of defence by Sean Naughton was picked up by Brian Lowney who soloed upfield but was fouled and Joe Enright pointed the free followed by another pointed free from Joe after a foul on Aaron O'Donovan. Sean O'Deadaigh caught a high ball in defence and passed to Peter Dunne who set up Scott McElroy for a goal. Then Scott was fouled and a penalty awarded but unfortunately was sent wide by Joe. The tenacious Jonathan Keane then scored a beauty of a point before a foul on Mark Linehan was converted by Joe. A good stop by goalkeeper Colm Heelan was cleared upfield by Sean Naughton to Sean O'Deadaigh who found Joe Enright and his long ball into the square was finished to the net by Conor O'Riordan. An exciting finish was now on and all the momentum was with Inniscarra. Good work by David Keane in defense resulted in the ball reaching his brother Jonathan and his pass to Joe Enright resulted in a point followed by a point by Brian Lowney following a pass from Se O'Donoghue. Conor O'Riordan scored another point before Joe Enright set up Brian Lowney for a point to leave just three points between the sides but Inniscarra just failed to get the final score.

This was a first class performance with each player a hero on the night which was much appreciated by the large Inniscarra following on the night. Many thanks to their mentors Liam Linehan, Martin Cussen, Seamus Cronin, Robert Harkin, Pio Enright and Jim O'Donovan for all their hard work.
